Things Fall Apart: Skip Week
Between having a cold and having some other things I needed to knock off my TODO list this weekend, a chapter did not get written this week. That said, I have some stuff to say!
6 November marked two years of posting this story (almost) every week. This is a story that has been brewing in my head in various forms for years and I have finally been getting it out there, along with bits of lore built for the wider universe it's set in. This audience here isn't large, but you've shown in various ways you're all definitely paying attention, and that's awesome.
I've been talking about doing an omnibus (still not quite ready to call it a novel, although after editing, it might feel much more novel-like) for a while. I finally put together a manuscript for that that runs from the beginning of the story through the departure from Gliese-581—what currently appear hear as Chapters 1–32. That's about 125,000 words, and of course, the story is still ongoing. In Novel November terms, that's two-and-a-half novels, and the overall word count is now probably getting close to four, but I doubt I will actually break it up in those terms.
Of all the writing habits I've tried to establish for myself over the years, this is the one that's finally stuck, and looks like it's going to keep on sticking.
Thanks for being along for the ride!
